Emilia Clarke: Fame hasn't changed my life
Emilia Clarke says fame hasn't changed the way her friends and family treat her.
Emilia Clarke has to pick up the tab when she goes out with friends and family these days.
The actress rose to fame quickly thanks to her part as dragon queen Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones and her recent role in Terminator Genisys alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Fame hasn't changed much in her personal life, but she does have to pay for the odd drink every now and again.
"They all find it as strange as I do!" she laughed to German magazine Jolie when asked what her loved ones make of her showbiz lifestyle.
"But they're all very proud. Sometimes they'll even make fun when 'The Hollywood Girl', as they like to call me, comes home.
"And of course I have to pick up the tab more often when we go for a drink these days [laughs].
"But apart from that, all is as it was!"
Emilia is getting recognised in the street more and more frequently and recently admitted her local newsagent makes Game of Thrones references when she visits.
While it's flattering, it does raise a few concerns.
"I am a bit," she admitted when asked if she's scared of fame.
"I like my life and couldn't imagine anything changing. I am very close to my family in England.
"My brother is my best friend and my father gives the best advice.
"Alongside Game of Thrones, I'm making film after film at the moment, so I miss my family."
Emilia will star in romantic tearjerker Me Before You alongside Sam Claflin next year.
