Mara ‘misquoted’ on Fantastic Four
Kate Mara appeared to send fans into a spin earlier this week.
Kate Mara’s rep says the actress was misquoted on the forthcoming Fantastic Four film.
The House of Cards star plays Sue Storm in the feature about four astronauts who obtain superpowers after being exposed to cosmic radiation.
But fans were in an uproar this week after IndieWire reported Kate told Esquire Latin America she was not a comic book fan. The outlet also reported the actress said director Josh Trank assured her it wouldn’t be necessary to catch up on Marvel comics reading because the film wouldn’t be based on any existing material.
Entertainment Weekly reached out to the star’s spokesperson, who said Kate was misquoted in the translation.
The outlet reports her rep said the film “is not based on one comic, but rather drawn from the entire canon”.
The Fantastic Four is currently in production, slated for a summer 2015 release.
Toby Kebbell, Miles Teller, Jamie Bell and Michael B. Jordan co-star in the feature.
Kate was most recently seen sharing the screen with Johnny Depp in Wally Pfister-directed sci-fi drama Transcendence, about a scientist researching artificial intelligence.
According to IMDb, she currently has projects in the works through 2017, including The Fantastic Four 2.
She recently completed work on Jerry Jameson-directed crime thriller Captive, about a single mother and drug addict taken hostage in her own home.
